Tripoli, 30 April 2013:
Libyan joint security forces have now cleared 36 buildings in Tripoli that were being used as headquarters by . . .[restrict]illegal battalions.
The emptying of the buildings follows the GNC’s decision number 127, to cleanse Tripoli of illegal armed militias. This is being done by the joint security forces, a collaboration between the Ministry of Interior and Defence.
“These forces, since they started their duties, have managed to evacuate 36 locations, such as properties and camps which were used by illegal armed formations to carry-out criminal activities,” said spokesman for the Interior Ministry spokesman, Magdi Aurfi, yesterday, Friday.
He called upon local councils in the city of Tripoli and its neighbouring areas to work together to ensure the success of this joint task, by taking over the places that have been vacated. He said this should be done in collaboration with relevant institutions, such as the General Property Authority and other state institutions. [/restrict]
